Australian International Academy · Kellyville
Before and after school care, right where your child already is.
Child’s Play looks after Kindergarten to Year 6 students on the AIA Kellyville campus — from 7.00am in the morning and until 6.00pm in the afternoon, during school terms.
A privately owned family business operating at the Australian International Academy.
Mornings
Before school care
The service will operate from 7.00am until 8.30am during school terms.

Before school care represents an important time of the day and the experience can set the tone for the rest of a child’s day. Children may arrive sleepy, hungry and having been rushed. A warm welcoming atmosphere helps children settle and gives a good start to the day.
Breakfast is provided. Our service aims to promote healthy lifestyles, good nutrition and the wellbeing of all of children, educators and families using procedures and policies. We also aim to support and provide adequately for children with food allergies, dietary requirements and restrictions and specific cultural and religious practices. Healthy eating is promoted and food and drinks provided by the service are nutritious and appropriate for each child. AIA and our service is an allergen aware school with no nuts allowed on site.
AIA morning Quran classes
AIA runs Quran classes 7.45am–8.30am Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The morning Quran class program usually commences in the second week of each term.
- Dropping off before 7.45am? Students attending Quran classes who are dropped off to school before 7.45am will need to enrol in before school care. Please indicate whether your child will be attending before school care prior to the Quran class.
- Dropping off after 7.45am? You will not need to enrol for before school care on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
- When Quran classes are not running, please make sure to indicate on your form whether you will require before school care on those Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.
Afternoons
After school care
The service will operate from 3.00pm to 6.00pm during school terms on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 2.30pm to 6.00pm on Tuesday as school finishes early.

After school care comes after a busy school day where children have been in a group most or all of the time and have been working hard. For some children, especially younger ones, this may be stressful or tiring. Their day has been structured and is likely to have been demanding physically, intellectually and emotionally. Our program is based on the My Time, Our Place (MTOP) framework and offers students both structured and unstructured, self-directed play including the opportunity to just relax and play via a book corner, quiet play or craft.

A rhythm, not a timetable
We have developed a program that is flexible but orderly to provide predictability and a sense of security, confidence and inclusivity.
Sessions are allocated into large chunks of time to allow for concentration and serious engagement, and avoid frustration at not having long enough at an activity or ‘missing out’.

Indoors and outdoors
The program is divided into indoor and outdoor times with flexibility, depending on the weather.
Routine activities are those that occur every day: arrivals and departures, eating, transitions between parts of the day, setting up and cleaning up.

Homework program
We believe that allocating a specific time for students to tackle their homework can relieve some of the pressure off parents and students. Our indoor time includes a homework program.
It is optional and offered only to students whose parents provide their consent. Students are not pressured to complete their homework.

Regular indoor activities
- Book area & quiet space
- LEGO
- Puzzles
- Billiards & air hockey
- Art & craft
- Board games
- Movies

Regular outdoor activities
- Independent play
- Ball games
- Chasey & tag
- Jump rope
- Hoola hoops
- Mini bowling
Families, including children, are encouraged to offer their feedback and contribute their suggestions about the program. Special indoor and outdoor activities are also incorporated: dress ups, book club and associated craft, competitions and making Ramadan, Eid, get well and thank you cards. There is a special focus on art and craft during Ramadan and Haj — making paper lanterns, Ramadan calendars and similar — and around Eid, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.
